Statement of Need

There are several different approaches to treating osteoarthritis (OA), including physical, psychosocial, and mind-body. It is important that primary care physicians work in concert with rheumatologists, physical/occupational therapists, psychologists, and dietitians to create a multidisciplinary management plan for their patients with OA, as well as participating in shared decision-making.

In this installment of the CME Outfitters Snack series on managing osteoarthritis, expert faculty discuss the use of patient-reported outcomes, patient education, biopsychosocial approaches that integrate non-pharmacological interventions for OA, and strategies for engaging patients in their treatment decisions, in order to facilitate proper management of OA.
