Statement of Need

There are many vulnerable and underserved populations in oral health. Gaps in health and health care are often caused by the disconnect between medical and dental care and a fragmented system that has left 74 million people without dental insurance, leading to knowledge gaps and a lack of dental-medical collaboration and coordination in patient care. These issues are exacerbated in patients of color, often due to interpersonal racism.

This CME Outfitters BriefCase will feature patient case studies that illustrate disparities in oral health and practical steps dental health professionals can take to mitigate these in their own practice to eliminate barriers to equitable dental and oral health care in patients of color.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply action steps to eliminate barriers to equitable dental and oral health care in patients of color.

Financial Support

Supported by an educational grant from the Johnson & Johnson Institute and the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies

Target Audience

Dentists, physicians, nurse practitioners, PAs, nurses, and pharmacists
