Racism is a public health crisis, and health systems play a critical role in addressing social determinants of health (SDoH) and health care provider (HCP) biases to further health equity. All levels of the health system, HCPs and staff from the C-suite to the front desk "gate-keepers", must be aware and understand the impacts of structural racism, SDoH, and biases on their patient population. Taking these factors into consideration, improving diversity among health systems staff and management, and championing diversity and inclusion are some of the strategies needed to mitigate health care disparities and help make communities healthier.
This CMEOCast podcast will focus on the role of health systems in addressing structural racism and clinician/staff biases and how health systems administrators can integrate best practices to support patients and reduce disparities in care.
At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to:
- Outline the role of health systems in addressing structural racism and clinician biases to promote health equity.
- Integrate best practices for health administrators to support patients and reduce disparities in care.

ABIM MOC:
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.75 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
Royal College MOC:
Through an agreement between the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, medical practitioners participating in the Royal College MOC Program may record completion of accredited activities registered under the ACCME’s “CME in Support of MOC” program in Section 3 of the Royal College’s MOC Program.
