Statement of Need

Sealants, flowables, powders, sprays, thawing, mixing, or ready to go right off the shelf. The choice of hemostatic agent involves preparation and planning – critical to ensure when hemostasis is needed, the selected agent is ready to use. In this second of three CMEO Snacks, Dr. Dowdell and his team demonstrate the planning and preparation required for safe and timely use of topical hemostatic agents in hospital outpatient surgery departments (HOPDs) and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs).

Learning Objectives

At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to:

• Prepare topical hemostatic agents for use in the outpatient surgical environment.

Credit Information

ABIM MOC Credit:
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.50 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
