Statement of Need

Premenopausal women with hypoactive sexual disease disorder (HSDD) in clinical practice settings often present with depressed mood, lack of well-being, declines in marital functioning, and negative sexual characteristics. This is the reality, despite the fact that the occurrence of HSDD was not due to a pre-existing mental health condition.(1,2) Therefore, declines in marital functioning and negative sexual characteristics are related to the experience of depression in women with HSDD. Clinicians must consider these issues in order to develop an appreciation of the full impact of HSDD on quality of life, and the unique experiences of individual patients.(2) It is critical that clinicians recognize and address the symptoms of mood disorders prior to treating for HSDD. In addition, HSDD must have in its diagnosis "not better accounted for by another condition".

This CME Outfitters medical simulation puts you—the life-long learner—in the "driver's seat" as the decision-making clinician who is providing care for a virtual patient across two or three clinical encounters. As such, you have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice with this virtual patient, and then translate your experience to your practice with actual patients with HSDD.
