Statement of Need

With the advent of further health care reform, measurement of outcomes will play a central role in evaluating medical necessity as well as the quality of care delivered by clinicians. Psychiatrist need to understand what the rationale is for outcomes measurement, why it enhances care, how to most efficiently do it, and what are the best measures to use.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the rationale for measurement based care
  • Identify the studies that have established the utility of measurement based care
  • Discuss the best ways to implement measurement based care

Target Audience

This continuing medical education activity is intended for psychiatrists, primary care physicians and other health care professionals who seek to improve their care for patients with mental health disorders.
