Albert J. Stunkard Speaks Out About Night Eating Syndrome
Albert J. Stunkard, MD, a pioneer in eating disorders psychiatry, granted a Thanksgiving interview in which he expressed great concern that deserves our close attention: Night eating syndrome (NES), which he first described in 1955, remains underdiagnosed. The U.S. obesity epidemic requires that clinicians learn more about NES, whose prevalence recent papers document at 8% – 27% among obese patients.
