CME Outfitters Launches New Virtual Learning Environment
CME Outfitters, LLC (CMEO) announces the launch of its new CMEO vWorldTM virtual learning platform—designed for clinicians seeking cutting edge, comprehensive and accessible medical education
POWELL, Ohio (January 18, 2013) – CME Outfitters (CMEO), a leading accredited provider in continuing medical education, today announces the launch of its newest product: CMEO vWorldTM. The uniquely designed virtual world allows learners to participate in the activity of their choice, and work at their pace, when they have time to participate. Participants can view on-demand multimedia education, participate in challenging interactive educational gaming and see how their peers are scoring, and access expert guidance and multiple resources. CMEO vWorldTM is designed to help clinicians effectively diagnose, treat and manage patients in a variety of therapeutic areas. Participants enter the vWorldTM learning environment in the virtual meeting hall, which has multiple meeting “rooms” that are structured to provide learners with a variety of certified and non-certified educational interventions. A reception or “Help” desk facilitates the educational experience and assists learners while they navigate through vWorldTM. CMEO vWorldTM integrates accreditation, educational research, and outcomes capabilities through the Testing and Outcomes Central room, tracking each learner’s experience and providing a home for polling, surveys, and feedback.
“Launching vWorldTM has really positioned CMEO as an innovator in providing cutting-edge continuing medical education,” said Shari Tordoff, CMEO Managing Partner, “The virtual environment adds another level of engagement to medical education making physician learning interactive, engaging, and fun…all in an effort to sustain the best results possible—improved care and improved outcomes for patients. We look forward to developing more and more education utilizing the virtual world platform, and learning how this type of educational design, which combines the best evidence- and guidelines-based content with advanced quantitative and qualitative educational research methodologies, can help improve the future of CME.”
CMEO launched vWorldTM with a series of educational activities on hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection featuring national expert faculty sharing best practices for primary care management of HBV infection within the framework of American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) guidelines, emerging data, and expert experience. The curriculum includes an On Demand video webcast on HBV and two online Chart Reviews. All three HBV educational activities are available for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM and AAFP Prescribed Credit. Learners can test their HBV knowledge by playing HBV Challenge in the virtual Gaming Center. The entire HBV curriculum focuses on evidence-based, best practices for primary care clinicians for screening and diagnosis, therapeutic strategy planning, and treatment counseling for patients with HBV.
