CME Outfitters Invited to Serve as Faculty at ACCME Workshop, April 17-18
Major accrediting body taps CMEO Director of Accreditation on basis of experience and knowledge in continuing medical education

April 8, 2008

CME Outfitters, LLC, (CMEO) an independent accredited provider of multidisciplinary continuing education programming and related healthcare communications services, announces the invitation of Richard Vanderpool, CMEO Director of Accreditation, to serve as faculty at the April 2008 Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Workshop in Chicago.

The ACCME hosts 3 such workshops each year. This year the workshop series has been developed to help participants learn more about creating practice-based learning and improvement opportunities where the content of CME matches the scope of the learner's practice, learning activities are linked to practice-based needs, and changes in physician competence, performance, or patient outcomes are measured.

This year's workshop series is entitled: Accredited CME as a Bridge to Quality: Understanding and Implementing ACCME Requirements as Practice-based Learning and Improvement.

Mr. Vanderpool will be responsible for leading breakout discussions on key aspects of ACCME's CME system, including a session on CME Activity Planning and Evaluation, and one on the ACCME's Standards for Commercial Support. Each session will include discussion between faculty and participants on compliance criteria and case studies.

Mr. Vanderpool was invited on the basis of his experience and extensive knowledge of CME. His CME career spans 15 years, during which time he has established himself as a leader and expert in the continuing education community. He currently oversees a CME department that offers more than 10 types of multidisciplinary credit to a wide range of healthcare professionals.

Mr. Vanderpool is an active member of the CME community and has both attended and presented at numerous industry conferences. He holds faculty, committee, and membership positions in various associations and advocacy groups for CME professionals. He works in CME Outfitters' Dallas office.

CMEO is a regular participant at ACCME workshops and this will be the second invitation for a member of its management team to serve in the role of faculty leader.

CME Outfitters develops and distributes live, recorded, print, and web-based educational activities to thousands of clinicians each year and offers expert accreditation services for non-accredited organizations.
