CME Outfitters Announces 2nd Annual Chairs in Psychiatry Summit, July 16-19, 2009, Charleston, SC
Registration now available; attendance limited to first 300 participants

April 21, 2009

Rockville, MD -- CME Outfitters, LLC, (CMEO) an accredited provider of multidisciplinary continuing education (CE), in co-sponsorship with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, an ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), announces the 2nd Annual Chairs in Psychiatry Summit - The Master Class for Psychiatric Professional Development.

Scheduled for July 16 through July 19, 2009, the 2nd Annual Chairs in Psychiatry Summit will take place at the Charleston Marriott Hotel in Charleston, SC. The Chairs in Psychiatry Summit is an intensive 3½-day master class designed for psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals in a variety of tracks related to the neurosciences. Each track features presentations delivered by psychiatry department chairs from the United States' most renowned academic institutions.

All education will be designed to enable participants to immediately translate the evidence into clinical practice improvements. In addition to the keynote and plenary sessions, the Chair Summit will utilize a variety of interactive tools/formats such as audience response keypads, patient case studies, panel debate, small breakout sessions, and collaborative chart reviews to incorporate adult learning principles, enhance the learners' experience, and foster peak clinical performance. The result will be an intensive, integrated CME curriculum for practicing clinicians.

The topics selected for the conference represent educational gaps identified in a recent CMEO needs survey, data from recent literature reviews, the latest evidence on the advances in the field, and recent updates to treatment guidelines. Participants can choose educational tracks based on their identified educational needs and interests. Educational tracks include bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, mood and anxiety disorders, sleep disorders, ADHD, and childhood psychiatric disorders. Additionally, faculty will delve into issues such as the state of the union in mental illness, ethics in psychiatry, substance abuse, forensic psychiatry, HIV and mental illness, traumatic brain injury, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and pain.

During the Summit, participants will enjoy unparalleled access to the nation's leading researchers, clinicians, and academicians. Participants will be taught by and interact with the leaders of the psychiatric community—those who have made the seminal discoveries that have led to advances in the understanding of the pathophysiology and treatment of major psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. The faculty chairs will personally lead presentations, interactive sessions, and small group breakouts. They will also answer attendee questions, share clinical experiences, and consult with attendees on specific cases during exclusive "Ask the Chair" Q&A segments.
