CME Outfitters Presents Charles B. Nemeroff, MD, PhD with Fifth Annual Chair Achievement Award

Dr. Charles B. Nemeroff of University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, was awarded at CME Outfitters’ 5th Annual Chair Summit for his commitment to medical research and improving patient care

POWELL, Ohio (October 22, 2012) – CME Outfitters (CMEO), a leading accredited provider in continuing medical education, recognized renowned neuroscience and psychiatry expert, Charles B. Nemeroff, MD, PhD at the 5th Annual Chair Summit in Orlando, Florida, October 12, 2012.  Dr. Nemeroff was presented with the Fifth Annual Chair Achievement Award by Dr. Ned Kalin, Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, during the closing reception on day two of Chair Summit.  CMEO recognizes a Chairperson each year at the annual Chair Summit meeting for their outstanding contributions to their field, dedication to education, and commitment to improving the care of patients. In addition to presenting Dr. Nemeroff with the Fifth Annual Chair Achievement Award, a donation was made in his honor to the United Way of Miami-Dade County, Florida. 

Dr. Nemeroff joined University of Miami in 2009 as the Leonard M. Miller Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. As the director of the University of Miami Center on Aging, Dr. Nemeroff launched a new University of Miami Hospital Mood Disorders Unit for adults battling depression and bipolar disorder. Dr. Nemeroff is also the past President of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and the American College of Psychiatrists.  Currently, Dr. Nemeroff serves as President of the South Florida Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), where he leads the foundation on suicide prevention efforts through research and education. In 2006, Dr. Nemeroff received the American Psychiatric Association Research Mentoring Award and Vestermark Award, and in 2008 The Judson Marmor Award for Research.  Dr. Nemeroff served as the Editor-in-Chief of Neuropsychopharmacology from 2001-2006.  With Alan F.
