A Note from Ms. Shirlene Rogers:
Your Satellite Site Liaison

Shirlene RogersAs a CME Outfitters Satellite Site, you are already signed up for our LIVE CE activities in December, but there is still time to get a group together if you have not already done so.

Combating the Consequences of Excessive Sleepiness, our live satellite broadcast, takes place Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. ET with a taped re-air at 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. ET.

From 1:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m., you can enjoy the extended opportunity to interact directly with the faculty after the live broadcast during our new feature, neuroscienceCME After the Show.

Excessive sleepiness is an intense compulsion to sleep during waking hours. This symptom can manifest itself while at rest, but also during times when a degree of activity and attention are needed, such as while driving. Excessive sleepiness can be a result of sleep deprivation or fragmentation, and its etiology is associated with disorders such as narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, circadian rhythm sleep disorders, and depression.

Moderator Charles B. Nemeroff, MD, PhD, will be joined by faculty members David F. Dinges, PhD, and Thomas Roth, PhD.

Satellite Site Profile

Women's Eastern Reception & Diagnostic Correctional Center

Our thanks to William Waybright, our Site Coordinator, for sending in information about his institution.

Located in Vandalia, Missouri, the Women's Eastern Reception & Diagnostic Correctional Center (WERDCC) was dedicated on December 22, 1997, and received the first female offenders on January 5, 1998. The maximum capacity of the facility as planned was 1,460 offenders, but due to the expanding number of female offenders within the State of Missouri, beds have been added to make the current capacity 2,060.

The WERDCC complex is a 47-acre compound located on a 117-acre site. The complex consists of three general population housing units, an administrative segregation and mental health unit, a reception and orientation unit, a drug and alcohol treatment center, a transitional housing unit where offenders prepare for return to society, and a general services building which houses the power plant, warehouse, food service, education classrooms, recreation, chapel, library, laundry, clothing factory, and canteen. Basic medical, dental, and mental health services are also available at the facility.

Send Shirlene news from your team and be profiled in an upcoming edition of Network Connection Update

A Cornucopia of CME Offerings

In case you were not able to read last week's neuroscienceCME Clinical Compass, we wanted to provide you with another opportunity. Last week's newsletter featured a primer on the variety of delivery methods that we employ to get our educational content to our diverse learning community. Your clinicians' individual learning preferences call for a wide array of delivery options, and we work hard to anticipate and meet your needs. It's our hope that you will find and utilize delivery methods from our portfolio that are a perfect fit for your clinicians' learning styles.
