1st ANNUAL CHAIR SUMMIT RECAP: THE MASTER CLASS DELIVERS!

1st Annual Chair Summit Recap: The Master Class Delivers!
Save the Date for 2nd Annual Chairs in Psychiatry Summit

The 1st Annual Chair Summit in Hilton Head Island this past weekend (July 27 - 29) was a certified success! This inaugural educational event was attended by clinicians from 36 states, and it showcased over 30 faculty thought leaders in psychiatry from the nation's top academic, research, and clinical institutions.

Approximately 300 participants and faculty were part of one of the most fascinating and clinically relevant psychiatric educational experiences ever developed. Adding to the inherent value of this cutting-edge content was its delivery by leading psychiatry department chairs who were clearly in their academic element as they led presentations, interactive breakout sessions, and informal networking breaks.

Incoming APA President Alan Schatzberg, MD, speaks on leadership during Chair Summit networking opportunity.
A highlight of the opening night's dinner series was the presentation of the 1st Annual Chair Achievement Award by Charles Nemeroff, MD, PhD, (Summit Chair) to William E. Bunney, Jr., MD (University of California, Irvine).
Dr. Bunney then provided a glimpse into the futuristic work being done by his group.

At the end of the second day, Alan Schatzberg, MD, incoming President of the American Psychiatric Association and department chair at Stanford University, addressed the audience during a free-form networking opportunity. Dr. Schatzberg spoke on leadership in the field of psychiatry and took several questions from the group.

The overwhelming consensus was that this was a groundbreaking CME and professional development opportunity. Participants gave outstanding ratings to the various learning formats and declared firmly that they plan to attend next year's Chair Summit.

At this time, the 2nd Annual Chairs in Psychiatry Summit is scheduled for July 16 - 19, 2009, at a location to be announced soon. Please save the date and join us for this event, which has already established itself as a must-attend educational event.

Stay tuned for other photos and video participant feedback from the 1st Annual Chair Summit. On behalf of CME Outfitters/neuroscienceCME, thank you to all the participants, faculty presenters, and planners who contributed to its success.

CME Outfitters would also like to extend a special thanks to the industry supporters of the 1st Annual Chairs in Psychiatry Summit.
